when my cat thoroughly smells me, clearly deciding whether or not she should bite me, what is she looking for? along what criteria am I being evaluated for biting?
I assume her even doing the deep sniffs with her teeth sort of bared and ready to bite she enters the situation presuming to bite, so I guess the question is what she is smelling for to prevent a bite
@jonny baring her teeth isn't to bite, they have additional olfactory organs that get exposed when they do that.

interesting. in this case she is also literally dragging her teeth over me in a half bite already, but maybe she is just confusing those two things - go to smell good and then also you are already biting so why not
@jonny looks like it could be related to mating cycles?
