I feel like the software industry could stand to have the equivalent of OSHA but for handling harms unique to it.

Absolutely we need regulations like "Don't create cognitohazards" similar to stuff like "don't let metal shrapnel get into cereal"
@mauve How do you implement this at scale? So much code is put into the world around the clock, a lot of which get in front of end-users in one way or another.
@tnypxl Yeah that's exactly the sort of thing people should be working on answering. Probably through years of trial and error like other regulations. Fraught with imperfections of course but sometimes safer than nothing.
