Mastodon not trying to load an account's outbox when following is one of the most frustrating "features" of the platform. In what world is "user has 24 posts, but I won't show them to you" good UX, At least fetch it client side without indexing into the db or something. 🙃

@fleeky Just imagine the spice levels of the takes I don't shout on a public forum. :P

@mauve Also featuring: User has 700 followers but you can't see them unless you go to a different website.

@mauve mastodon clients could really use to contact remote servers more often.

@teal Yeah defs gonna experiment with this in yhe AP client I'm plabbing to make for

@mauve did you know ActivityPub objects can have multiple URLs?

seems useful if you want multi-server redundancy

@teal @mauve problem is you need to sign fetches to most servers these days, and a client can’t do that

@em @mauve hmm true... they could still try at least i guess.

authorized fetch doesn't really prevent block-dodging as long as you can look at the post in a browser.

@teal @mauve it’s more about making defederation actually work

@em @teal What makes you say that they can't? I use signed fetches as auth for the and it's pretty straightforward. There's the issue of CORS headers not being availabke on a lot of instances tho.

@em @teal Oh mood yeah. Kinda wish it had a way to "bring your own keys"
