It'd actually be so wild if the programming industry had settled on royalties for written code instead of fully giving up your copyright to corporations.

@mauve There's a balance where I want my code to be used gratis by hobbyists and non-profits—maybe even small companies—but not big corps (at least, not without compensation). It's definitely odd that we as an industry landed on the MIT/expat-style licenses ("do whatever lol") as the default.

@j3rn Yeah I was just thinking about code being comissioned by either employers or clients. It seems like the media industry has more of a culture of creators retaining some copyright or some sort of royalties.

Personally I try to mark stuff as agpl as much as possible :P
