Element is like the least efficient app I've used to date. It somehow manages to take like 10 minutes to load while totally freezing my browser and spinning my CPU fan to max loudness.
@mauve have you tried microsoft teams?

@mauve lol, last time i used icq was when they had all those "xtraz" or whatever, it was uh, not very fast on my computer. it did have a strawberry skin that i liked though.
@mauve I've seen this a lot. I never had any issue, but I basically only use it with one friend. So my assumption is that it comes from having many rooms / a lot of history to load?
@yhancik I *am* in hundreds of rooms with thousands of new messages on load but it really shouldn't need to process all that on load.
