Honestly I get a little jelly of folks that just use non free and non open sourced sofware with hard requirements of always being connected to the internet. Stuff just seems so much easier out there. 😅
@mauve selfagency comes at a cost indeed 😅 A little selfsabotage is worth it when it's personally & socially interesting. It becomes torture when overdoing it [happens to us all]
@lvk I think I'm addicted to agency and stuff working offline without a subscription. The idea of using an online only app for some core of my workflow gives me the shakes.
@mauve I blame various things for my urge toward DIY selfhosted solutions. Back in the days I was very inspired by 'keep it lean' selfhosting startups. But also the GO FOSS community, which started turning popular proprietary services into single-binary apps (gitea, pocketbase, trusted-cgi e.g.). On top of that, I don't like complaining, so selfhosted smalltech became my therapy automatically :)
