I honestly feel it's sad that everyone hyping "the Metaverse" was scamming.
It wouldn't have been as revolutionary as they were making it out to be but it would result in huge strides for a lot of tech if it were made to be an open standard.

Meta and others were talking about "living in the Metaverse" and "training for jobs in the Metaverse" when it'd be great for creating standardized objects for game dev and 3D movies. It's silly but it contributed greatly to why we have so many VTubers now.

Lots of neat stuff happening in the Godot and Blender space for example.
@lucid00.com Another group you might like is this VrChat Biosensing discord which uses EEG signals to control avatars. I think even though the corpos overhyped there's still some hope in us actually having access to interoperable spatial computing tools on the future
Oh yeah I've kept up with them (you might've been the person who shared this with me before). There's even a Godot add-on I've been messing with that supports a few of their standards. They're great! Their stuff and the VRM standards I find exciting.
