agh the worst part of installing linux on my new laptop...

what de/wm do i use...

i started with gnome... moved to fedora sway spin.... now im like maybe i go with kde and install sway on top of it ???

no idea honestly

@steffo its so funny how i dont wanna relearn configuring linux wm stuff again

i used to mess around with i3 and so on alllll the time and now im so old

@pry same lol

i wanted to get into niri a few weeks ago but then got at the configuration part and thought

"ehhhhhhhhh maybe next time"

@pry @steffo seemed like a good balance between keyboard nerdy and totally usable by mouse people like me

Meaning you can pick up at ya own pace, and still have your device usable by someone else lol

@Miaourt @pry @steffo I've been using Niri for a while now and I love not having to think about where my windows are. It's just an infinite scroll and quick to navigate spatially. Agreed it's a bit annoying to set up all the wayland stuff to get a proper desktop going. I still don't have per window screen sharing 💀

@mauve @pry @steffo oh you can't share a window specifically? I saw there was built-in config to aleast hide windows from screenshares.

In the latest changelog, it seems there was some constumization options for screenshared windows :neocat_glare: github.com/YaLTeR/niri/release (under "Screencast target window rule" that I can't hyperlink bc I'm dum)

@Miaourt @pry @steffo The issue isn't Niri thankfully. It's with the thing I'm using as the screen share function right now github.com/emersion/xdg-deskto

Hard to find time to tinker with this stuff and find which magic alignment of dependencies makes it work like one would hope. 😅
