subjective experience occurs the moment an object-maker cleaves two elements of reality into two objects. for example, splitting the vision of the horizon into a sky and a ground. the object-maker, keen on making more objects, notices that the subjective experience itself can become an object, cleaving it off of reality entirely. some believe this is what qualia is.

I can't say if I beleive this is how it works. I think this "process-style" explaination for how qualia happens doesn't explain why it feels the way it does.
