My cat is being very patient with me coding on my cyberdeck instead of petting her while she's on my lap.
@ragman Currently coding on a premade one from China. https://www.gpd.hk/gpdwin42025 Originally it was made as an alternative to the Steam Deck for gaming but I use it for my programming job.
I'm also in the process of finishing up the software side on my fully wearable setup based on a single board computer and a head mounted display + one handed keyboard. https://www.khadas.com/edge2
@mauve Neat! I have a Steam Deck, I wonder if I can get it running a more stock version of Linux...
And the fully wearable idea is exciting! I hope you finish it :D
@ragman TBH I'm not sure what folks new to the scene are using them for beyond a creative outlet for making a lil gadget that looks cool. 😅 I'm mostly in it for portable computing for programming and information processing. I think a lot of folks use them for playing old games via emulators?
@mauve The using it for games and making cool 3D printed enclosures is my take on it as well, yeah.
I've got a little pre-built handheld emulator (a miyoo mini plus) that I got on AliExpress for like $35, but I see the appeal in making a custom one!
@mauve Ooh, can I ask about your cyberdeck?
I've been seeing more people talking about them recently, but am not quite sure what people are using them for?
(besides ignoring their cats :p /s)
