My #SteamDeck won't charge via its USB-C port oh nooo 💔

@mauve you ever seen this problem? I've only had it for like a week.
@shibacomputer So far I've just been charging with my dock and it's been stable. I don't use the USB port much outside of that. 🤔
Can you still connect other USB devices to it? (I guess you can't test that if it's out of battery though).
@mauve@mauve.moe Other USB devices work, eg keyboards, etc.
I was also able to boot it up from the "Storage Mode" BIOS state, which disconnects the battery and makes the Steam Deck only bootable with a charger plugged in. So clearly there is some sort of charge making it to the Deck. But once its on, it refuses to charge. Down to 49% charge and falling :'3
Also, not to alarm you or anything, but it stopped charging while plugged into a dock. Lmao.
@shibacomputer Weeeeeeeird. That's super strange. This is on the stable release and everything? Might be something to ping valve support over. I think these things come with some flavor of warranty?
@mauve yeah I already have. It's running stable and no modifications aside from some KDE reskinning. I'm convinced it's not actually fried, but has some issue with power management somewhere but I'm also not willing to open it and disconnect the battery for fear of voiding the warranty
@shibacomputer Jeeze. That's a rough spot to be in. Sadly I haven't got any experience in this realm. I wish you luck tinkering! 🙏 Hopefully it's something that can be delt with software side. I also found the steam forums / steamdeck reddit have been pretty good for finding other people debugging this stuff.
@shibacomputer TBH I would be absolutely enraged in your position. 😅 Whack that an effectively brand new device would have such an issue.
Oh! Does it charge if you do a hard reboot and only enter the steam game mode?
@mauve valve support is taking 24hrs to tell me repeatedly to charge the device to 90% and get back to them 🥲
