... So, did I miss something about calckey? Bc some of the stuff people want to go to threads for, are things I recall being features on there.

@glitchontwitch I have a feeling Threads users aren't generally up to date on the state of federated software. From the looks of things the network effects of being able to bring your instagram follow graph with you outweighs any feature needs.

@mauve So to clarify:

I wasn't talking about threads users, but users on mastodon mentioning features that they are aware of on threads which appeal to them. (Threaded replies, quote posts, etc.) Not follow graphs, as Calckey afaik doesn't do that.

Also: I am a content creator, and I know a number of artists who depend on commissions. The "numbers" people make a point of mocking on here can make a material difference for a number of people. Like, "do I have rent money" level differences.

@glitchontwitch Yeah big mood. One hope I have is that the non-algorithmic nature of fedi stuff could lead to better RoI per user once there's enough users for that to be viable.

I totally agree that numbers and potential customers seeing your work is important for people to make their livelyhoods on social media.

@mauve

Fair -- I've run into people who forget that enough that I get touchy, and a little quick to point it out. 😅

Agreed though.

And also like, as much as I like masto (it's currently my fave fedi option), it'd be great if people were more aware of other options so they don't think they're stuck choosing between masto and threads/bluesky/whateverthenextbillionairemakes.
