Context collapse with Beeper

I have been meaning to write about context collapse with beeper for a long while. Not certain its quite right but its the best word to describe how it can feel using Beeper

@cubicgarden I self host my matrix instance and use bridges with e2ee. I've found that organizing stuff into "spaces" has been essential to make sense of messages. E.g. i have a seperate space for messages from loved ones and meatspace friends and others for different projects I work on. It's been a huge boon for ptojects that use multiple apps for comms (discord/slack/etc at once)

@mauve
Thats where I want to get to because self hosting a few bridges, would be ideal on my fibre internet connection.
My life is a blur of work, fun, love and play so I don't need the split but I do need to think before just hitting reply to a message.
Worth saying my slack DMs don't include work slack as its more difficult to bridge. Also have work email and full slack on my work phone

@cubicgarden Nice! I pay etke.cc to help manage the instance since it's a major pain in the ass to set up from scratch. I use a cloud VM but you can probably run something locally if you set up a public ip or a reverse proxy.

@mauve Ah ok, I'm hoping others will offer it as a service with limited bridges. Hopefully the bridges I need.
For example I really don't care about iMessage or Whatsapp. I swear most of Beepers team costs are supporting that apple bridge.

@cubicgarden Yeah! Etke.cc has a few they support out of the bpx and you can choose whatever ones you want or don't want. E.g. I didn't bother setting up twitter or linkedin

@mauve
Thanks for this again, saved for when my beeper sub comes up ☺️
