“i just couldn’t do it again, do you know how many times i had to pretend i didn’t already know how to invent minesweeper, but then systematically reinvent it again from the ground up with a guy that also was pretending he didn’t know how to reinvent minesweeper, last cycle?”

@mauve neat! funny you mention that, conway's game of life never came up in my interview cycles, but i'm fascinated by replicating and remixable systems.

tangential, but i gave a mini mind dump today reflecting on dweb camp to a virtual meetup. i wrote a blog post of what i said before i said it, but i'm setting the stage to continue growing on top of html/http as my interoperability point.

@tychi That was really interesting. Thank you for the link! The js script in particular was a really cool idea and I might test it out for some projects if I may.

Have you seen the indigenous computing theory talk by Jon Corbett from @causalislands ? I find it very inspirational.

@mauve @causalislands that’s super awesome and exactly my line of thinking, i watched the whole thing last night. i think i need to reach out to Jon and swap notes.

and please do use that script! i’m beginning to design the narrative of my research and that’s the seed to wrap react, svelte, jquery, backbone, web components, vanilla js, or my flavor: github.com/tylerchilds/plan98/

the whole istic bit from the talk super resonated.

@tychi
Very interesting. I wish I had time to dig more into and maybe understand it better, but I posted a link to it on the Safe forum instead 😃

@tychi

Gosh I'd forgotten that Solid post of yours and having cross posted it (I'm happybeing on Solid and Safe Network forums).

Great stuff in the Launcher app list and a good time to be reminded of it as somebody was asking me only yesterday, what they could usefully fund a third party developer to do, to give max value to the Safe community as things are coming close to launch. I'll add that post to my response.

@mauve

@happyborg @mauve i’m definitely open to exploring funding options for my work, i’m really trying to target hyper text as the interoperability layer, which projecting the future of computing based on the past, should still be around a long time, regardless of what implementations we currently use today.

so far, i just committed to using my netflix severance for funding a year of my progress, but that year ended in june. this is me packaging up my work in case i need shelve it for income.

@tychi

It would be great to have your input and funded too.

There is fact a substantial fund (donated by another community member) set aside to support development of third party apps and ensure Safe Network's success. I expect that will be activated in the coming weeks or months as the project approaches launch.

If you want to enquire yourself on the forum, post a question about the "bamboo garden fund". Also, I'll mention your interest to the community member who asked my advice.
