Looks like Jitsi started requiring accounts to start chat rooms. Anyone have alternatives for open source ish video calls?
- no need for registering an account
- Using webrtc in browsers
- firefox support
- "pretty" urls like "/call/my-cusom-room-name"
- open source ish and self hostable
@eater @mauve that's the correct answer. The mandatory account thing is only enforced on Jitsi's own instance, but other servers just let you create a chatroom normally ;)
I don't know how up to date it is but : https://jitsi.github.io/handbook/docs/community/community-instances/
@mauve that would be fun :p
@mauve I love mumble myself and there is a browser client. It just feels more countercultural.
@mauve I was also using https://talky.io/. Not sure about its status atm
@mauve ikr so annoying! tou could always deploy an older version of jitsi?
@mauve What do you think of something like huddle01? It’s a web3 VC funded thing (I personally never used it). They’re working on dRTC.
@mauve Oh, it’s not completely open-sourced (only SDKs) :/
It’s a no no for me.
@mauve self-hosted jitsi?
