...so he figured out a way to get everyone to place economic sanctions against the US (including our allies).

Turns out, putting in a puppet in the US to attack all of our allies and load trade barriers and tariffs causes our allies to respond in kind. Which... is appropriate of them. Push back against a bully.

On a completely separate note: I used to play Skyrim. A fun way to defeat a quest boss was to sneak up on the enemy group and cast "Frenzy" on the boss. This would make the boss attack their friends and in turn cause their friends to attack back and kill the boss. I didn't have to lift a finger beyond the initial casting.
