Spent a bit last night looking at the state of client apis for signal and matrix and I get ehy everyone is making new chat protocols instead of connecting to existing stuff.
@mauve those apis suck. Bluesky and Threads api also suck. Mastodon api is surprisingly good. AP is too chatty for my taste but it is clever.

@soapdog I kinda like raw activitypub since the public outboxes don't need any fiddling with authentication (usually).
I was considering testing to see if I could get an LLM to "vibe code" something but I strongly doubt it'd fare better than me with those APIs. Especially if I want to result to be fast
