First successful rendering of my RSS feed subscription list - loaded over Tailscale on my ESP32 eink handheld!

Of course the font is so small I can’t see it without glasses, but PROGRESS!!

initially i planned to have this backed by my personal RSS reader backend. But now I am thinking, why not just import an OPML file and download the feeds live? i don't need perfect read history on this, i need stuff to read.

this is doable but the variability of RSS feeds makes for a big PITA that I'm not sure is worth it. one feed might have 300 posts in 2k of txt and another might have 5 posts in 1000k of txt so it becomes a memory management nightmare on the esp32

@benbrown Yeah, I wonder if a streaming parser that condenses the data into smaller structs on each feed item would work in that case 🤔🤔

@mauve yeah i was heading in that direction. i mean, it is doable! but I can have a lot nicer experience with my backend doing all the hard work of normalizing things
