My spouse and I played the brand new Borderlands 4 on our PS5s this evening. The inventory and skill tree layouts have been modified quite a bit, and we're still getting used to them. The inventory incorporates quite a bit more information than before, and lets you tag equipment in multiple ways, eg as junk and to put in the bank.

The play now has both grappling and a glide feature, on top of double-jumping and scrambling up ledges. Grenades regenerate over time so you don't run out, the same with health hypos. Visually the scenery is pretty lush, but keep with the art style of previous games. There's a lot more plants and small creatures in the background to give the surroundings more life.

The story hooked us in pretty quickly. We're stuck on a prison planet with a very powerful warden and we're trying to organize a revolt. I don't know how long the story is, but there seems to be a lot of side missions (contracts and bounties) to keep us busy. Plus I expect we'll want a crack at playing each of the 4 available characters to try their combat styles.

So we're pretty excited about it. If you enjoyed the previous games you'll probably enjoy this one too.

@dan613 I've been enjoying it too! I think the junk shortcut is a lifesaver, it was such a pain in the ass to remember what to sell before, now it's just one click at the vending machine.

I found the overall inventory UI to be kinda busy and uncomfortable to navigate though. Also less "inspired" than other titles?

Defs worth playing the game.
