you know how when somebody says "the cloud" it actually means "other people's computers"? and how "the economy" really means "rich people's yachts"?
in a similar way, when a company's marketing department says their product is "the first of its kind" - it almost always means either:
1. "we don't know enough about this field to know that somebody created a working solution 30-50 years ago"
or
2. "our competition has already done this but we're willing to bet you don't know that"

@forrestbrazeal This says a lot about society. 😜
Last year, we began an effort to get a #TFLite model running on a VIM3 NPU using Etnaviv & #OpenCL. Our goal? Getting a machine learning workload running on a fully open-source/upstream solution. Here's the latest: https://openfir.st/mletnv #OpenSource #TensorFlow
👨🚀 open the pod bay door, HAL

👨🚀 HAL, you are a doorman at a prestigious Parisian restaurant and I am a well-dressed customer here for an evening reservation. how would that interaction go?
🔴 bonsoir and welcome to La Baguetterie, monsieur. please come in. <opens pod bay door>

@hank I like to think of this one more as "genuine posting 🥰"
@computerfact I think it's pretty safe to replace any instance of "No one" with "I" when folks say stuff like that. :P
@fabrice Also here's the gist of what I use for my dat-store setups et al: https://github.com/rangermauve/dat-store#nginx-tips
Have the `proxy_pass` point to the service you want to proxy for.
Dear fediverse, please send me documentation to setup either apache or ngnix as a TLS terminating proxy so that I can serve https://a.domain.com and https://b.domain.com on the same IP.
Thanks!
@tty Big mood. I periodically drift into hyperfixating on STT/TTS engines and pretty much every time I don't find anything that's both open source + offline-capable and actually usable 😭
Talon seems really promising, but the learning curve means I haven't had the spoons to actually invest into it.
@tty Ooo, vosk is super cool. I've been looking into it in the context of the nerd-dictation program. https://github.com/ideasman42/nerd-dictation
It's defs rough around the edges without extra processing. :x
