Canadians: if you are Having Opinions about the Air Canada flight attendant's strike, please note that Air Canada spent half a billion dollars on stock buybacks in 2024. In 2023, the CEO's pay increased 233% to $12.4M.
This should inform your opinions about flight attendants, whose work is necessary enough that they need to be legislated back to work and yet somehow not worth paying for.

@ohmrun Update from the annas archive folks: https://annas-archive.org/blog/an-update-from-the-team.html re #libgen
@ohmrun No, no, this was a huge help already! I'm thinking I might budget a mirror of some of the books to help spread the love a little. 😅
@reconbot I felt a little bad for the old people being fooled but TBH if they enjoyed it regardless it's probably fine. 🤷
@ohmrun Seems it needs logins which is a bit outside my comfort levels. 😅
@reconbot The only scam part is that they were faking that they were playing. 😅 e.g. they stopped "playing" the violin but it kept playing the sound over the speaker. Else it was just way too loud. I offered to pay them to turn the volume down a but but they just started hurling slurs at me. 🤷
@ohmrun My hero 🙇
Friends, please stop linking to Spotify like it’s ok.
The company steadily siphoned money from independent artists, then spent millions to host Joe Rogan, then littered their library with AI music, and now the CEO is investing in AI weapons.
There are plenty of less damaging ways to listen to music and podcasts.
@xeiaso.net I think you should go for it if it sounds viable to investors. No need to suffer
Oh. So, Stripe - the online payment company, owned by the Collison brothers - is refusing to process payments for any LGBTQ+ content, apparently.
‼️🚨KICKED OUT OF FEDCON MILITARY RECRUITMENT CONFERENCE (aka @defcon @thedarktangent)🚨‼️ - for daring to raise our voice against war criminals and the rise of AI tech fascism.
20 years ago when I spoke at the DEFCON hacker conference it was "spot the fed". After years in prison for hacking charges related to Anonymous, I was excited to finally return - only to find it thoroughly run by feds and deeply enmeshed with the military industrial complex we fight against.
A disgusting display, the first hour's fascist fireside chat with DEFCON's Dark Tangent and General Paul Nakasone - a four star general and director of NSA and US CYBERCOMMAND until just last year. With DT saying "Go Army!" shamelessly recruiting for the military and praising AI imperialism as US bombs fall on Gaza - we had to take a stand. As they smugly took their final jello shots with so much blood on their hands, we shouted "War criminal!" "Free Palestine!" "This isn't a hacker conference - it's a military recruitment drive!"
For daring to speak out, we were aggressively kicked out by Las Vegas Convention Center security guards - who put hands on us, calling us homophobic slurs. No goons or anyone from DEFCON offered any discussion or due process. Shameful how Fedcon treats real hackers and freedom of speech. Hackers, take a stand against the military co-optation of our communities and the hacker ethic!

Neat parallels between false confidence in using adderall to try to boost performance and #ai.
tl;dr: You feel more productive but actually aren't
