Scientists in California have created a new way to see inside the body by combining ultrasound with a light-based technique called photoacoustic imaging. The result produces fast 3D images that show both the shape of soft tissues and how blood is flowing. It has already been tested on human heads, breasts and limbs, and could help doctors spot tumours, track nerve damage from diabetes and study the brain — without radiation or injected dyes. Caltech

Ok new rule, products of subsidiaries of nasty tech companies get referred to by the most disreputable name in the structure, not their branding.

They're not Waymo robotaxis. They're Google robotaxis.

It's not Whole Foods Market. It's Amazon Foods Market.

It's not Meta Glasses. It's Facebook Glasses.

the AI alignment problem is entirely a smokescreen designed to distract from the capital class alignment problem

Reddit post:

My wife called Meshtastic "Tinder for Linux users"

I'm never going to emotionally recover from this.

@tychi I had a shitty mcrib ripoff at summer camp when I was a kid and it was just as good.

KDE supports the "Keep Android Open" campaign

#Google will cut off independent developers to #Android if they do not register with Google first. This will kill independent platforms like @fdroidorg and severely impede FLOSS devs from creating apps for Android.

Many KDE apps are deployed for Android: KDE Connect, Itinerary, Tokodon, and there's even a test version of Krita for Android.

KDE calls on Google to reverse course and @keepandroidopen.

During thunderstorms, electric discharges in the air cause trees to glow with an ultraviolet aura. You can't see it with your eyes, but researchers have finally managed to measure it & recreate it in the lab.

It is 2026. You are a transgender adult or child listening to the NYT and British Guardian claim this is the first generation anyone has tried transitioning in. Transitioning is new and experimental.

Anthropic when Chinese companies use Claude to train their own AI models vs Anothropic when they’re stealing everyone’s data to train Claude

@rmond I really gotta write up a proper blog post about it! tl;dr, I used to use an intel NUC with a BT keyboard, apple trackpad, powerbank, and usb-c monitor. Then I replaced the kb/trackpad with a mini keyboard meant for TVs, switched the nuc for a steam deck, swithed the deck and kb with a gpd win 4, started using a one handed keyboard and ar glasses display, and am about to use a khadas edge 2 for compute and bring back the battery pack, switch between glasses and usb monitor. Mb audio only?

i built an entire x86 CPU emulator in CSS (no javascript)

you can write programs in C, compile them to x86 machine code with GCC, and run them inside CSS
