Linux surpasses the Mac among Steam gamers
It's not the year of Linux on desktop; it's the year of Linux on a handheld.
Another thing we did last weekend in Berlin: redeployed Cinnamon’s seasonal clock, with some adjustments so that there are matching emoji for every hour of the day: https://seasonalclock.org
(this is a global clock where it’s the same ‘hour’ everywhere around the world, e.g. I am posting this at blossom hour, no matter where you are. It is a scheduling toy for an existing group of friends.)
You know when you have a video loop, but to make it loop something disappears in an improbable manner?
And you think, that's a shame, because I really like this little clip.
And you could crop it so, for example, a bird doesn't disappear in mid-flight, but then it looks unbalanced so you need to find some unobtrusive way for the bird to disappear so it appears natural?
Yeah. That.
I think I need a quiet lie down.

Are there #llm powered cyberpweapons put there already? It'd be neat to see how they're structured.
begging every website developer to set zoom to 200-300 and/or the minimum font size to 30 and look at their website on various devices.
(personally i usually use 120-140% and a minimum font size of 14, and i ALREADY have these problems.)
i hate that websites all have a floating header now that follows you when you scroll.
because of font size and website zoom, that means on many pages, i have about half the space left for the actual content. HALF. and my zoom isn’t even all that big. i am going to lose my fucking shit one day. just do normal websites again. i do in fact know how to scroll back up if i need the header
I don't think an alternative is impossible but it's disheartening to see the lack of efforts to find alternatives by "land developers".
Everywhere I look there's just islands of grey sameness infected with franchises owned by a few duopolies siphoning the life out of residents after destroying the life that was once thriving on the land.
Occult Enby that's making local-first software with peer to peer protocols, mesh networks, and the web.
Exploring what a local-first cyberspace might look like in my spare time.
