@nasser When there's "terminal themes" built in but no way to get it to just use the default background and text color 😵

I have a talented, hardworking, totally blind student who wants to program.

I want to give her a chance to do research.

Any advice from the programmers out there?

P.S. one of the best vision scientists of the later half of the 20th century was blind. (Gordon Legge)

I'm at the "How did this test ever pass in the first place?" stage of debugging.

Dreading catching up on the 1.5k missed messages in the chat I haven't read in a couple of weeks 💀

Don't tell anyone but I'm starting to appreciate JSDoc type checking. Especially seeing other projects that don't use it and have weird errors all over the place as a result.

Sauron was 54,000 years old when he forged the One Ring. It's never too late to follow your dreams.

Poll only for #Blind/LowVision users who rely on #AltText. Is AltText generated with an LLM actually “better than nothing” as some argue? Please comment if you’re Blind or Low Vision, and please boost to get a good sample.

@gwynnion I think rather than human beings and their intelligence, what the AI folks really want is slaves that cannot rebel and can be ordered to perform tasks and replace humans that still have hopes of rebelling.

18. This "neural band" is neat. It can be programmed to recognise hand gestures and output keyboard events. Could be a good companion for my twiddler so I can type with my left and navigate with my right. mudra-band.com/pages/mudra-lin

The lack of functional discovery features on Mastodon is so nice. One of the worst experiences on Bluesky is making a post and then 18 hours later completely random people start Discovering it. And they're almost never happy to see it, nor do they remotely understand the intent or context. Make a post for your friends on Bluesky and wake up the next morning to a bunch of messages from mystery people along the lines of "why did you post this??". And I just want to know well why did you read it??

@jsbarretto Yeah that's fair. I just use the smallest dose to give me a bit of focus during work. Been doing a good job reworking my life to make the symptoms less of a problem in recent years. Mostly switching so I can quit caffeine.

> test failing
> uncaught exception
> no stack trace 💀

*something* is opening a file descriptor after test close but there's a huge mess of code where it might be happening. 🙃

@jsbarretto Yeah alarms + snooze / reschedule is such a life saver. I basically live by the calendar. Maybe this is the opportunity for you to schedule doing your form! 😸 I finally got my doctor calls done just now.

@jsbarretto So real. 😭 I've been trying to use my partners as reminder systems but even that's hard cause the timing needs to align.

Getting treatment for ADHD is a special kind of torture because the more you need it the harder it is to start the process.

There should be a term like "sapiosexual" but for freaks and weirdos. 💜

@lvk Nah, just that I can't do in-memory storage of data anymore. 😅

I have been blessed with more Goat Simulator 3 DLC 🥰💜
