@deersyrup Nothing as exciting as maxed out compute tbh. Compiling large C++ projects to the point that everything is pegged to 100% usage and my DE is frozen is a rush.

One of the conclusions I’ve come to from my years of software freelancing is that humans hate tradeoffs.

I don’t just mean that we hate deciding between options when none is clearly the best. I mean that people hate admitting that tradeoffs •exist•. We desperately want there to be a best option, a correct answer, a clear choice that will satisfy our egocentric need to believe we are objectively In The Right. 🧵

Main reason I'm going this route is that the sherpa-onnx library is supposed to be able to use my Rockchip NPU on my machine to speed things up.

I think I've gotten to the point where the default voices in espeak-ng aren't cutting it anymore. Gonna try cloning my own voice to speak back to me via sherpa-onnx and pocket TTS.

Cool side effect of running a battery powered cyberdeck is I can give a number for how much percentage bits of work take. e.g. compiling a big ish C++ project took like 20% of my battery

I enthusiastically support this company that claims to be making a real life version of the monster that chases you around the level in any of those janky-ass Playstation 1 lookin' indie horror games.

@johnefrancis Sucks that LLMs are making publishers to screw screen reader users over even harder.

Thankful to live in a city with a thriving music scene. We're not fancy, but it's plentiful.

Today is a whatever this genre is sort of day.
