WANTED: Intel Architecture Labs 1990’s CD-ROM’s. They appear to have maybe been monthly. They contained a mirror of Intel’s ‘download.intel.com’ ftp server, specifically the /ial/ subdirectory which is not in the 2014 backup of the site on archive.org.

Lots and lots of white papers and design guideline documents in there. Especially looking for ones from the late 1990’s (1998-ish onward) if they exist. I’ve seen references in mailing lists to them that lead me to believe they do.
Example gem: intel trying to cover its ass after the FDIV bug, and have some more FDIV

I am now up to date on Android Studio's use of .aar dependencies and know that you need to fully delete a module if you ever hope to truly remove it from the build cache 🤪

I think federation is cool but unlike eugen I am aware it is fundamentally incompatible with recreating network effect corporate tech platforms and I think that's a good thing. like I'm so fine with being in a network of like, 12 servers loosely connected to a network of 100 itself tenuously connected to the wider world where a handful of people trickle in and self select for the vibes we have cultivated. I think it would be neat if I could have the same experience with every other tech product as well

Now that I went through the hell of turning an example Android app to a library, I now get to go through the hell of figuring out how Android studio uses aar files now, and then the hell of figuring out how chromium's Android build system to figure out how to pull an asset out of the AAR into somewhere the Java side can read

Accessibility Awareness

You don't necessarily need to say "image of" in your alt text for users to know it's an image. Screen readers will announce that it's an image. But it can help readers to specify if it's a hand-drawn image, Polaroid, infographic, screenshot, chart, map, diagram, or so on.

it is time for lawmakers to implement a »support-or-open-source« regulation. it is ok to not want to support »obsolete« technologies forever, but it should be mandatory to make it open source when and if you stop the support.
