if you're someone who is -actually hiring yourself- or who is in direct discussion with someone who is, again, the -actual hiring person- whomst I can talk to about acquiring an actual job and not fighting the godsdamned fucking llm horseshit, please do let me know.
24. I ended up getting this instead of the e12 since they seemed less sketchy. Been making progress reverse engineering the protocols! It's a bit more funky than I expected, but it shouldn't be too bad.
@jalefkowit When I started at WhatsApp, they were building the native windows app to replace the electron-wrapped web app they were using. Everyone agreed this would be better because the windows app wouldn't have to wait on attention from the web team and could run in a highly optimized way. We built it and it was great, everyone was happy. It gets released, everyone loves it, reviews are super positive. Two years later: the team does not grow and the app starts missing features. The ratings are still good, the app is doing well, trend line continuing to rise, but it's closer to flat. Microsoft is killing off UWP and wants everyone to transition to WinUI3, an expensive rewrite which will be largely invisible to most customers. So, to save cost time and resources, they opted instead to kill the windows app and replace it with, you guessed it, a wrapped web version. What of the people hired on specifically for their knowledge of Windows coding methods? Told to find new jobs. I still carry the scar of this self inflicted wound.
It is exhausting to work in an industry where it is considered normal to throw out your entire toolset every six years and do everything the opposite way
Just published this tool for managing tunnels between devices using #p2p networking. Kinda like tailscale but without the need for central services. Desktop app release is incoming later this month. https://www.npmjs.com/package/setkamost
I'm going to be trying something new with this by releasing this for free for nerds that can install from github/npm, but charging a small fee when I publish in the major app stores. Does five bucks USD sound reasonable?

Occult cyberpunk. Yap with me about decentralized systems, wearable computing, and biohacking.
