@trevorflowers I'm using VOSK wrapped by github.com/ideasman42/nerd-dic

It isn't amazing but it's fast enough and offline first. The python scripting also makes it easy to hack on things.

I'm publishing my scripts for it here: github.com/RangerMauve/mauve-d (mostly basic stuff like special characters for programming and some aliases for common mistypings).

I find that I do a moderate amount of manual correction where I select messed up words and speak the word again to overwrite them.

@unmellow Also I guess I should try to get the pinphone keyboard now that it's a thing and see if that helps with the UX?

@unmellow Though honestly I haven't used my pinephone pro in ages. :P Maybe it's time I try to set it up again.

I know I had Agregore compiling on it at one point. Might be a good time to try to get it working agian.

@unmellow It's tough cause TBH even linux phones aren't as usable as the steam deck is.

Outside from Linux apps not supporting the mobile form factor, the options you have for customization are still kinda finnicky, and actually typing the code for customizing the phone on the tiny keyboard is hard.

The deck's on screen keyboard is a step up in usability, but that also comes at the cost of the device being kinda big and not having a SIM slot for mobile internet.

LMAO, it actually stands for "Content Addressable aRchive"

@phoebecodes I use Migadu for hosting. They're pretty straightforward and work with any email client.

migadu.com/

I hired etke.cc to do the setup along with my matrix server. You just need a domain and they can help set up the rest. (including all the fancy MX records so that your email server is less likely to go to spam)

Current programming mood: soundcloud.com/lucca-stolk/sto

Working on a thing that convers CAR (Content ARchive) files to dot files so that they can be rendered out to SVG.

Making this so I can debug some custom chunking errors I'm getting in @webrecorder

@tychi That sounds really interesting! I think @agregore is a similar thing for me where I want to combine a bunch of p2p things in a cohesive interface (URLs + HTTP methods).

I've also got a CLI based thing for Agregore (a bit out of date now) which is like node or deno but with a focus on Web APIs and p2p. github.com/AgregoreWeb/agregor

Is the source for your project published somewhere I can mess with it?

@tychi Yeah, that's a good read on the situation. I think right now more and more people don't have access to throwing money at a thing so there will likely be more people that need technology that works outside of that context too.

E.g. my partner is an artist and it's getting harder to afford anything with the cost of food and housing skyrocketting here in Canada right now.

I'm liking it! I've tried a lot of bluetooth peripherals over the hears and this one is doing a great job. Only thing I wish it had was a way to connect to multiple devices and switch between them, but outside of that it does everything I want.

I got this little keyboard from my computer so that I can sit cross legged and have my hands on my lap instead of having to reach up for my keyboard and mouse. I'm also using this to augment my speech to text set up. basically, I use my voice for most of my typing and then this thing for keyboard shortcuts and turning my speech recognition on and off.

India first democracy to ban encrypted messaging apps on massive scale.

Only days before Press Freedom Day, India banned apps for secure communication because of "terrorists" use.

HUGE FUCK YOU TO THE MISERABLE ASSHOLE WHO COMPLAINED TO THE CITY ABOUT MY BIODIVERSE FRONT YARD. Got a "Notice to Clean" about "weed abatement" so I guess my meadow has to go to satisfy some spiteful NIMBY. I'm fuming, guys. #FuckALawn #FuckYourLawn

My partner is really enjoying the MP3 player I got them.

It's super liberating to be able to just drag whatever files onto your device from wherever you want without a bunch of extra hassle.

Really disappointed that Apple has so much shit in the way of just using the device. Bonkers how Apple nuts are convinced it's got better UX than alternatives. Maybe it's better if you're wealthy and only use Apple products and services for everything.

Ha, another proof how decentralized internet is a must!

Our Wizard Amigos learner from Pakistan just notified me he can't watch our workshop because there are protests against the government happening and the government of course shut down all the main sites (including youtube).

So... I just started transitioning all the workshop videos to the Peertube. And voila, Pakistan is back in business <3

Lol, just had a bug where I wasn't able to trigger to download a file from due to it being interpreted as a text file (it was a @webrecorder WACZ file).

To work around this I opened up the dev tools and set `document.body.innerHTML = '<a download href="ipfs://whatever/webarchive.wacz">Download</a>' which replaced the page with a link to trigger a download of the file.

Honestly, I wish all apps had a devtools feature so I could mess around with their guts.
