@jackdaw_ruiz Honestly, I don't think I could draw a face with the correct number of teeth. :x Only slightly sure I can do the correct number of fingers consistently.
@lucid00 Yeah, there's a bit of nuance on how we'll resolve data and how we can make sure loading data is efficient. IMO AP on it's own would be too slow for p2p use cases like "render my timeline with any likes and boosts tracked per post". But there's stuff we can do to make that feasible.
Lol, #p2p #activitypub is like a trigger word activating my "infodump about databases" training.
Like my eyes just roll to the back of my head and I enter sicko mode. Really glad I wrote up that blog post so I can defer to it instead of flooding every single chat I'm in. :P
@q3k Dang, I guess I know what my next portable computer setup is gonna be!
As Black and Brown queer, trans, & gender nonconforming folks, we often lack access to resources helping us thrive and maintain our well-being.
To accommodate folks looking for financial assistance, funds, fellowships, mental health, and other gender-affirming resources, we pulled together a recent and updated list of resources for our Resource Hub.
Our list of resources include funds, fellowships, grants, & other gender-affirming resources ✊🏽
I'm in hour 30 of a home internet outage (long story: my isp accidentally unplugged my cable uplink on monday and will replug it tomorrow) and it's been a while since I started using things in an offline mode.
Wow. So many things assume always-on connectivity these days. It's been an eye-opening experience.
There is very little graceful degradation of capabilities these days.
@malwaretech I'm excited for the day some billionaire can ask Chat GPT to 3d print a killbot. 🫠
@aral I think there's stuff kinda like this made for Android phones and Samsung DEX. :o
I've just been going fully modular and have a separate portable monitor, bt keyboard and bt trackpad. It's a bit more annoying to set up than a single shell that you can fold though. (Benefit is I can upgrade the components separately)
@makeworld I've seen the movie! Watch out for the mermaids and octopuses and stuff. :P
Hey folks! We've published our announcement blog post for the devgrant we've started to work on to add some tutorials and example apps to the Agregore website. You can read more about it here: https://agregore.mauve.moe/blog/2023/01/demos-and-tutorials-announcement
If people miss wizarding schools, may I offer some suggestions?
Here are ones I've read...
- Terry Pratchett's Unseen University books, especially _Sourcery_, are both funnier and deeper than Hogwarts.
- Ursula LeGuin wrote the _Earthsea_ series about magical training... and, again, examines the sexism behind so much fantasy.
- M. A. Larson wrote the _Pennyroyal Academy_, if you're looking for a fairly straight interpretation of the wizarding school trope.
None of those authors are transphobes.
@cblgh @adz That sounds lovely! I've also been wanting to do a more active push on making local-first tech usable for folks this year via folks at Hypha and Wakoma.
I'd love to join in on chats if there's space. 💜
Especially since there's so many folks getting better at grant writing and getting connections for work. Lots of opportunity to pool resources and skills.
…And on that last note, I’ve been trying to find alternatives to Raspberry Pi – would be very interested if folks have any leads… especially to boards that can be used for education.

Occult Enby that's making local-first software with peer to peer protocols, mesh networks, and the web.
Exploring what a local-first cyberspace might look like in my spare time.
