@lvk I think I'm addicted to agency and stuff working offline without a subscription. The idea of using an online only app for some core of my workflow gives me the shakes.
@lvk I think I'm gonna give up on it for now. Somehow using continue.dev with their "edit" mode has beeb more consistent for me
@arichtman BSON is my little meow meow
@fleeky I think lately it's been the cloud based language models that can actually code and follow instructions 💀
Fixed it by just reading the docs for pydub and coding it myself. Humans win again :P
Maybe I should stop doing weird stuff and make basic web apps instead so the AI has a chance.
@xeiaso.net the funny thing is this is only like 5 GB of data but the access control system adds like seconds of latency on top of things.
Writing #python to parse SAS code to call #rust via FFI to generate #json to feed into a #javascript front end written in #typescript 🫠
Gotta get #fortran or #brainfuck in here just to round it off.
@BenHouston3D I use it with aider for example. It's a billion time dumber than claude but it can do small tasks entirely offline which I think is good.
@BenHouston3D I use local models via ollama exclusively :P Usually I assume an OpenAI compatible backend and allow users to specify a URL/API key.
@lvk BitTorrent actually has their own spec so Webtorrent only conflicts with other torrent instances (this makes local testing annoying)
@BenHouston3D IS the claude dependency due to specific features or is there a chance we could use it with OpenAI compatible APIs like ollama or deepseek?
I beg you #p2p protocol authors. Please use something other than embedded MDNs for local network peer discovery so you can work outside of specific linux environments 😭 Only one process can bind on that port and it likely won't be yours or else it'll ruin some other part of the system in weird abd subtle ways.
war worries
@garbados I hope we can live to be in uninteresting times sooner than later 🙏
@akhileshthite Yeah that's a good idea actually. I think in european countries they had a similar cycle but used it to do chores and writing. Imve just been getting some water and going back to sleep :P
Occult Enby that's making local-first software with peer to peer protocols, mesh networks, and the web.
Exploring what a local-first cyberspace might look like in my spare time.
