Is there a client for Mastodon that purely speaks in ActivityPub rather than mastodon-specific APIs?

Ahhh, the initial spec of IPLD prolly trees is almost done and we're about to start writing a golang impl based on the spec that'll integrate with other IPLD things more easily.

Next we're going to be working on indexing data on top of it, and from there' it's a small jump to bridging the fediverse wtih p2p by publishing indexed activity streams onto IPLD!

allow me to criticize the state of the fediverse as much as love it:

- tiny brain: mega-node such as mastodon.social oh dang it we've reinvented twitter
- regular brain: I'll just choose an instance off of joinmastodon.org oh dang it got shut down everything I love is lost
- galaxy brain: I'll self host fedi software oh god this is hard I'm afraid to upgrade
- universe brain: we need to merge the fediverse with p2p network designs so a node going down isn't catastrophic

So, we just append .rss and it works!

REALLY useful if you don't want to miss a thing!

I wish there was some format for DnD which could be a lot more async at the speed of an email thread or forums. Or the speed of someone casually playing a chess game with a friend over the course of a week, paying attention to it when it's their move and they happen to have time.

Sounds like the folks at @capyloon are starting to work on the writable protocol handlers in the new Rust implementation of IPFS.

This will lead to apps being portable between our environments!

Spec writing is hard. It takes so much time to get stuff right, especially compared to publishing some code with maybe a few tests to back it up. 😅

I know we joke about how the hardest problems in computer science is cache invalidation and naming things, but it's bonkers how often I run into issues that literally stem from these problems. 😂

Two hours of work and I needed to bypass the service's HTTP cache to make stuff work. 🤷
