Cool, I managed to reduce my tiktok screen time by half in recent months 😎 Hopefully I can get those numbers down even more inbthe coming months.

Rockbox on my Sansa c100 was probably my best experience with portable devices. Reading entire books as torrented txt files and playing pokemon red at like a quarter speed was primo.

i think a radical paradigm shift might help here:

make publishers manually add links to responses and discussions that they wish to elevate.

one interesting model for this that i’ve seen is a site where every article contains in its footer an email address, and if you have something to add to the conversation, you email that address, after which the author *might* manually add your comment for everyone else to see.

this also discourages responding to a comment instead of to the article.

Certainly is of the ilk of “achievements that first make people laugh, and then make them think.”

It'd be cool if all work came with royalties instead of just wages. Like what if the code I wrote a decade ago was still bringing in a few bucks here and there :P

It's cheaper and maybe more accessible to host a conference in and get everyone to buy headsets rather than airplane tickets to another country.

Manufacturers should have some sort of out of the box config you could bulk order and send out to people

This week is more writing than code and is brought to you by the "Cool Runnings" themed energy drink I bought at the Chinese grocery store by my house. That place has all the Good Stuff™️

I caved and got the beefier GPD Win 4 with 32GB of RAM so I can stop suffering from OOM errors killing applications several times a day. TT_TT

LOL at first it couldn't get past the LUKS decryption after rebooting but it might just be the zen kernel that's being weird

Yeah, I silence notifications by killing Mako with systemctl 😎👍

why name a microchip some boring nerd shit like 6502 or 8086 when you could call it Socrates' Daimonion, The Whisperer in Darkness, Bit Muncher, or The Sand In Here Does Math

"Not Invented Here syndrome"? Oh, yeah. I'm familiar with that. I call it something different, though.

The real test will be to see if my non techie pals could get absolutely any use out of it. :P

I'll need to play with it more but hopefully this could be an easy alternative to the cloud based AIs with cloud based "artifacts".

With Agregore you can generate the app entirely offline and publish it to the and keep a lil library of built apps for reference.

Fun observation about local setups. They're typically trained to do one shot responses to everything, e.g. generating an entire app in one go, but the smaller ones are too stupid to do this successfully and need to be coaxed into doing multi-shot generation. Half my prompt is effectively "Don't write the rest of the code yet, just do this small part for now".

But yeah I've got quen2.5-coder:7b generating lil web apps now from basic prompts for
