@makeworld I think it's a me issue. The flavor just makes my body and mind reject whatever food it's in with disgust.
@lutindiscret Yeah IMO the Pear/Holepunch ecosystem is much better equipped for this. One can pull changes from a Hyperdrive in near realtime with authenticity built into the publisher and automatic spread accross the network. Making a client for it is pretty easy. Also a p2p web app from within @agregore could save on the hassle of making it cross platform and auto updateable.
Seems I'm on course for doing about 1.5 presentations a month for this year. :P This month is going to be a presentation on local AI in #agregore Next month I'm gonna do one about the fediverse and bsky and looking at how they work / comparing the structures. Hopefully my new graph visualization thing will get far enough that I can embed some in my talks.
@brandon do you have thoughts on how the transformation should work? VR gesture control is on the TODO list hut I'm not sure I'd want to dangle my hands in the air that long. I'm thinking operations would be around selecting nodes by type / label, graph traversal to "select" further nodes, then operations on the selected graph like renaming/replacing/duplicating.
@j3rn Oo may I get a link? I was thinking I'd have each file rendered on a "layer" in 3d with calls linked between files.
Watching this guy go over the details of where to punch a horse for highest effectiveness. #dwarffortress
The "adventure mode" fighting mechanics in #dwarffortress are so intimidating. It reminds me of #Gurps or #Degenesis mechanics 😅
Spent a bit of time this weekend adapting a 3d graph visualizer to render JGF files and am working on a tool to turn abstract syntax trees into JGF files. This way I can view code as a graph and work on tools to manipulate it at the graph layer instead of just text. Gonna work on better labelling and display next week and then work on connecting between source files and highlighting node types / quick searching them
@quietmarc Literally me since I boot into a weird looking LUKS decryption prompt followed by a raw terminal I have to log into then start my desktop environment with a command 🤪
@simon @florimond Big mood. I've been sticking to vanilla dom and web componeny APIs with just depencies for performing single functions like parsing or 3d rendering. It feels good to not have all my code break after a few months because react had to reinvent itself yet again.
@florimond the amount I enjoyed working with JavaScript went up my a significant amount when I gave myself permission to ignore all of the modern React/Vue/Svelte/etc stuff and just write good-old-fashioned vanilla JavaScript that manipulates the DOM
Vanilla JS is so much nicer today than it was 10 years ago!
Honestly, anything with a frontend build system these days just makes me miserable
Nuclear war worries
@octade Neat, TIL.
One useful way to describe your location is to use the amateur radio QTH grid (also called Maidenhead, which is falling into disuse). It is a shorthand way to give an approximate location that (with elevation) is precise enough to be useful for #weather but doesn’t invade privacy.

Also, more generally, consider that institutional organizations are *much* more vulnerable to hostile action than chaotic local collectives which do not have clear operators or representatives.
It pays to store a copy in some obscure organization that's difficult to figure out as an outsider, even if they don't have professional infrastructure to support it. Deliberate censorship is the bigger risk right now, not accidental data loss.
