Also, here's a recording of the talk I did at their last conference (used to be called Bloom) on and web apps.

I get into the weeds on and and how this technology works under the hood.

Looks like futureproof.so/ is doing another round of talks!

It's a conference made by and for , , , and technologists focusing on decentralized technology.

I'm going to be doing a talk on Holistic Software and how it relates to my work and being .

Do sign up for their newsletter to get more info once the conference is announced!

My pal BeanBoy put together a theme builder for @agregore and I tried cranking out a groady theme using it.

What's cool is that once you save the `.agregorerc` file to your home folder and restart, it'll get applied to all websites that import agregore://theme/style.css` for their default styling. For example: The agregore.mauve.moe website!

@mauve This is why I'm so interested in this stuff too.

Plus it allows our networks to be flexible in ways that don't require large scale infrastructure.
Like how many people I follow on SSB don't even have internet connections and are usually sailing on the ocean.

Techbro admins: defederation hurts users!

Users: no, we like it, that’s literally why we joined this server

Techbros: it fractures the network!

Users: yeah that’s the whole point

Techbros: but when stuff isn’t built to cater specifically to my cis white boy needs, I mistake it for oppression! I am a victim!

Users: *already defederated, talking about godzilla vs borg*

Honestly the only reason I care about and stuff is because it gives us practical tools to have nothing but what we have in our pocket and still be able to work with information technology and collaborate with others.

Everything else is just fun extras. :P

It pains me that communities need to either pay a corpo to own all of their shit or deal with complex nerd shit like the cloud to host their own (which is still paying some corpo eventually)

I think my philosophy when making software is that it should work for people with zero money or no bank account / credit card.

I know it's not a popular mindset to be in since money and profit is everything in the tech world.

I think it comes from growing up as a kid with no disposable income or access to anything but my shitty computer.

I'd rather support people with almost nothing than people with latest and greatest tech gizmos and spare cash for subscription services. 😅

K, fuck it, gonna update my mastodon instance so I can get the fancy "follow tags" features on this thing. If you never hear from me again it's cause I messed something up. 🤪

Oh yeah! Any folks in / interested in this stuff hit me up! I'm hoping to run it at the Centrepointe branch.

Also thinking of including signup links for some local instances to build up community.

Sent an email to the library coordinator about running a workshop.

Gonna focus on teaching folks how to use Devtools to mess with websites and create bookmarklets to persist changes.

I wish web browsers had kept built in user scripts as a feature so that everyone could edit their experiences more easily.

Interesting results! I am a "strongly agree".

All software that is going to federate should support ActivityPub. It is the standard for social network federation.

All social software should federate.

> I claim that many of these jailbreaks are best described as purposefully inducing the collapse of the superpositon into a waluigi simulacrum.

What times we live in, eh?

back on the worksite! gotta catch up with all my emails and get back into writing these codes. seems the keyboard I got to attach to my controller has a bug battery, but at least I have another one coming in the mail.

Anybody else do this? Sometimes when I'm looking to follow folks who post on a topic, I go to a different server. Most instances allow me to search and browse without an account. If there's a topic-specific instance, I'll find lots of relevant peeps there. Or I can go to a really big instance, which transitively knows more accounts, so I can search over a larger pool. The only annoying thing about this is that I have to copy the handles I find and go back to my instance to follow them.

#feditips #follow

It'd be cool if had a way to log in with your accpunt on another AP server. Like, if I wanted to check out kbin it'd be nice if I could reuse my mastodon account.

Neat! Gonna give it a shot now that it's charged. Hopefully I can actually code with this thing.

We shipped updated Debian packages as well as the prebuilts for desktop users.

One visible new feature is the addition of `env()` CSS variables usable as colors that will match the wallpaper. The extraction is done with github.com/Vibrant-Colors/node and the usable tokens are listed here: github.com/capyloon/gecko-b2g/

The system app and the home screen have been updated to use them, but any web page can also do the same!

wow, I can't believe how big the increase in the quality of life from the setting up this controller with my deck has been so far.

I had a lot of trouble switching between portable and docked mode since I'd lose all the nice controller features they went to keyboard and mouse the. now I can comfortably sit with the controller in my lap and do most of my navigating from there.

way less painful on my fingers too

instead of purchasing new controller or keyboard or whatever I've opted to set up my the old playstation four controller and the bluetooth keyboard attachment for it. what's really cool is that made it easy to get up and running with the touchpad acting as a mouse and the scroll wheel which makes navigating way easier. I also have the same key bindings as I do on my itself so it's easier to switch between them.
