4. Since I'm really liking my Rokid Max, I might get their Rokid Station device which they're marketing as an Android TV for AR headsets. I could probably get termux on this thing at least. https://www.forbes.com/sites/bensin/2023/08/02/rokid-station-is-the-first-android-tv-box-for-ar-glasses-and-it-works/?sh=1894b1d05cde
@yosh so true 🥲
teeth, cavities
@nonlinear Yeah, I've failed to quit pop a couple of times now so I might as well try again. :P
I'm thankfully already a major water drinker. Got a 3 liter water bottle that I'm chugging from all day.
@codinghorror I think producs like the XReal Beam which let you hook up existing devices that output to 2D screens but have them displayed in 3DoF around you with resizing are going to be a better path than these "lets reinvent operating systems from scratch" approaches. At least in the near term.
Having something that gets all your existing data on your face and adding spatial after the fact seems like a smoother path.

No sure what to call this genre but it's pretty funky and makes me want to play Broken Reality.
@anna_r_chy That's pretty good one. Seems to be taken already though. Generally the fewer characters the harder it is to get. :o

The BBC's experiment with Mastodon is pathbreaking in English-language news -- a major organization setting up its own instance. They've really thought this through. Key language:
"We're using social.bbc as the domain, so you can be sure these accounts are genuinely from the BBC. And by linking to and from the BBC’s website, we have verified our identity on Mastodon."

I wonder if the whole #AI thing will finally convince artists that modern #copyright regime was never meant to protect *them*.
It was meant to protect the middlemen. The Amazons, the Spotifies, the Sonys, the Disneys. The film studios, the publishing houses.
Now the middlemen figured out they own basically all of art, and that they can just train a computer on that, to replace artists with a piece of software.
And then stop paying artists even the pittance they were being paid so far.

@zkat Yeah it'd be cool if community blocklists had more nuance like "incidental transphobia by organization" vs "enabling individuals to do targeted transphobia" vs "federates with instance that has known transphobes on it" since this is nuance which might mean different things to different groups which I see tagged as just "transphobia" without elaboration in most cases.
Perhaps it was never about the money, it is about exerting the power, making others break, and inflicting pain.
